African Man

Rubbed eyes of exhausted days, tall thin limbs dark thick lipped african. Indulged and adapted to the westernized culture completely. With striped pressed black pants and tied button shirt. He divorced the indigenous culture and remarried to a white woman blonde and blue eyed. He also separated himself from the metaphorical symbolized tribal name to the biblical generic common christopher david or john. he leaves his hair cut short to disguise the nappy thick intolerable head of hair, his eyes fairly small and lips wider and protruding from his face as a non intentional pout. He rubs his eyes again from exhaustion not of collecting berries, woods, and organic slaughtered meats but collecting papers, electronic messages and meetings with those who ancestors collected people of his nationality as meaningless pennies thrown accidentally on the floor, lack the importance of even being lucky. he subconsciously becomes enslaved into the trade of intellectual minds and work ethic. He makes a promise to himself as long as he rubs his eyes he becomes the successful individual his cousins collecting water pots from distant rivers are incapable of being, he promised to rub his eyes so that his mother with low eye lids diagnosed of old age can no longer bother moving her sore limbs to drink water, he rubs his eyes to feed his mother as she fed him from her flesh nipples with the milk warmed by her body heat under the hot sun, to feed her under the shade and the cool breeze from the ends of the white nile and the corners of the green mountains. To no longer rub his eyes of exhausting commutes but to have his hands bare and free to serve to his mothers needs to wear this black pressed and tied shirt, as much as it holds him back from the roots he's originated from, he obligated himself to tolerate the constriction of the westernized dress, so as he rubs his eyes he glimpses the freedom of wearing the jalabiya under the palm trees shade with his mother, placing his thick lips on her aged wrinkled forehead whispering to her "allah yekhalik lay ya ummi" I have worm the pressed black striped pants for you ya ummi i have constricted myself and tolerated the discrimination for you ya ummi. I rubbed my eyes red to have short day dreams of me placing my rough hands to your warm soft skinned cheeks ya ummi. He is the African Man.
